Finished

Isn't she cute?
Reminds me of the fairies on True Blood.
I wonder if they read romance!
**********
Good news! I finished my new W.I.P.
"Dagger's Lust"
I have a few edits to put on it, and then I can start pitching it after I get the query and synopsis done.
"Dagger's Lust" is my first erotic romance novella. And I have to admit, with a little bit of conceit, that I did a good job with this one. Its fantasy filled, with werewolves, dragons and witches.
****
My husband says I've gone to the dark side. hahaha,,, in reality he truly does like the story. It's amazing the types of issues one has to deal with when deciding to write erotica, but actually, it was fun. I can't wait to start a new one. Lots of ideas, just itching to get put down on paper.

Maya Banks

I'm reading "Coulter's Woman: Coulter's Legacy" by Maya Banks.
I'm stuck on one word WOW...

Mind you, this book is erotica, so don't take my response as my way of telling you to read it. But, for those of you out there who like erotica, this is a fun book. Maya Banks is a master.

Yesterday I added Facebook pages for all of my books. Even my January 2012 release "Crystal Dreams" I hope you will all take the time to LIKE, each page. Visit my web-site for the like buttons, or just visit me on Facebook.

Have a super day,

Happy 4th Of July

On July 4th, 1776
This great nation, the United States of America,
In a struggle for what was right and free,
Was proudly born...
May we celebrate that precious freedom
For which our forbears fought so bravely...
The freedom that is inherent
In the Stars and Stripes, our revered flag...
Celebrate Freedom
This Fourth of July!
Have a fabulous Day....

No Sale! :-(

Well, my father-in-laws e-bay items did not sell. But he's OK with that. We'll hold on to the items and maybe try it again in a year or so.

It really can be horrible how some people respond to things like this. When TMZ contacted us for the story, we said sure, why not. Out of 37 comments, 99% were derogatory.

The comments were really quite nasty. And very judgmental. I suppose we could have replied to all of those remarks with  some of our own. But why?  Our family's goal was to help out our father. If he could use the money for a nice trip or whatever he wanted,,, it is his right to do so.

Who's worse? The Prostitute, the one buying the prostitute or the pimp? Regardless of what we might think, it is not our place to judge. We don't know the story of any of them.  So until we are in their shoes, we need to keep our opinions to ourselves.

Thanks to everyone out there who considered the items. If, and when we ever decide to re-post them, I'll send a blog.

My best,

Diane Story

What Is The Key To Graceful Writing

What makes a sentence beautiful? What makes it memorable? Remember the famous quote by John F. Kennedy, “Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.” Isn’t it graceful? It leaves an impression in one’s mind. Sort of the way an artist makes their scrolls and lines.

Monday's child is fair of face,
Tuesday's child is full of grace,
Wednesday's child is full of woe,
Thursday's child has far to go.
Friday's child is loving and giving,
Saturday's child works hard for a living,
But the child born on the Sabbath Day,
Is fair and wise and good and gay.

Have a fun day,,

Men and their hair!

What happened to men and their hair?

I'm not talking the hair on their heads. We all know about the genetics as far as balding is concerned. You know.. the balding Gene comes from the mothers side of the family,,, and so on...

What I'm talking about is body hair. I mean, why are men shaving their bodies? I saw a commercial recently where a man shaved his entire body. it was some sort of razor, or shaving cream commercial. Anyway, whats wrong with a little masculine body hair. I happen to think hairy arms, chest, legs make a man more masculine. However, I am the first to admit that the hair on their backs can go....
I once watched the Ididerod race in Anchorage Alaska. When the mountain men came out in their furs, you could hardly see their eyes a midst all the hair. I thought they were cute, but not kissable. A little facial shaving would certainly do them good.

Anyway, I think curling up to my husband with all his hair is more fun. I am certain I would not like him to shave his arms and legs. And definitely not his chest.

Have a nice day,,

Featured Sepaker

I am the featured speaker tomorrow for my group "Yosemite Romance Writers"
I will be talking about building your protagonist.
Feel free to register and drop by,,,

Lady Di's letters

I suppose there was a time when we could write a letter to our friends and expect them to remain private. And in most cases they would. However, when you are a person like Lady Di, you should expect privacy will eventually fly out the window. I have to wonder, if Lady Di were still alive today, would her long time friend, Margaret Hodge, sell her out?

Writing ones thoughts, or stories really is such a private thing. But in reality, everything we write down on paper is up for grabs. Unless you keep it locked away in your head.
If Lady Di had lived, I wonder if she would have written a book. Maybe her memoirs, or the story of her life. If she had, it would most certainly have been made into a movie. A real movie, not one conjured up in someones imagination or taken from the words of someone who thought they knew her best.

I wonder,,,, would Lady Di have wanted her private letters sold if it meant an easier life for her friend? Would she have understood?

Have fun writing today,, summer is here,, yeah,,,,

What's Up With "Game Of Thrones"

Are you serious???? What the hey????? They really, really killed him????

Ok, so they get us hooked and make us fall in love with Sean Bean as "Eddard Stark" and then KILL him,,, what's up with that? Needless to say, I'm disappointed. BUT, I will still watch my second favorite series. You gotta admit that Emilia Clarke is just fabulous as Daenerys Targaryen. My first favorite series is course "True Blood" cant wait for the new season..

Have a nice night,

Sees caramels and books

Ooh-la-la,,, See's has their double caramels again. I'm off to the store to get some,,,
Eating candy and reading go hand in hand. A caramel in one and a book in the other. Or in my case, a keyboard in the other.

Have a fabulous Sunday, it is raining here in Clovis, but a lovely day nonetheless....

Sierra Sky Ranch & The Hangover 2

Went with some friends and saw "The Hangover 2" It was absolutely hilarious but really way over the top.... I cant wait to see what they do with #3 it can only be about Allen.... haha

Also, I took my husband to the Sierra Sky Ranch for our anniversary Monday night. I highly recommend the place. We were treated like the queen and king of the ball. If you are ever in the need of a place to stay in Oakhurst CA, drop in and say hello. Oh, and did I say it was haunted?????

Who's Point Of View Is It Anyway? And What About That Attitude?

Lately, I’ve found myself writing my romance novels from the hero’s POV. Not that that is really odd. But it made me think about other authors and how they write. One of my favorite romance authors is ‘Lisa Kleypas’. I love most of her books, but steer more toward her regencies. I have read books where she writes in the hero’s POV and visa-versa. In either case, I think she is fabulous at making the switch. It is an art for sure. One I hope to master.
Along another line, what do you think about attitude when it comes to characters? Have you ever just despised a character for their attitude? Or not been able to fall in love with a character because of their attitude? Was it the hero or the heroin? How do we actually judge a character when they have an attitude we just do not like. I mean, if I like the book, I will finish the story and understand that a characters attitude is part of what makes him or her interesting, despised or both . I suppose it all boils down to the complete story. Before judging a characters attitude, we really do have to wait until the end.

Good Night!

Yosemite Romance Writers VP

Hello,
Today I was elected V.P. of my local RWA chapter (Yosemite Romance Writers)YRW
It was wonderful to have my co-members elect me, and to know that they have trust in me to do the job.
I know the position will keep me busy with the group, and I look forward to the challenges throughout 2011.
Sheri Humphreys was elected president, and to her I give my congratulations, as well as all of our other new elected. I look forward to working with all of them.

We also did story book mapping for our current W.I.P's. and I have to say that it was quite fun. It was a little fast paced which made it a challenge. But what a blast!

Sheri recently made a trip to Aswan Egypt ( I am very jealous :-/ ) and she brought me two books that will be helpful with my manuscript "A Pharaoh's Kiss" THANK YOU Sheri!

Have a great night!

Diane

Amazon Networking

Hello Gang,,

Ever used Amazon to network? Well, if you haven’t, I have news for you!! Amazon is a great place to build your name and at the same time, market your books. I read an awesome article that I took to heart, and today, amidst my writing, I took the time to follow the directions of the author. So, I’m going to put together a breakdown of what I did, and share it with all of you. I’ll keep you posted about the day of the event.
