Chantel Aubuchon is Mayor of Elkhorn. Taking on the job handed down to her from her father, she manages her position with pride as she attempts to keep her town afloat. But when gold is discovered on the Powder River she soon finds her small town threatened by the approaching mines. Destruction of the land surrounding her town is slowly turning Elkhorn into a ghost town. Searching for a way to insure her town’s survival she resorts to desperate measures. Harper Barnes is the source of Elkhorn’s problem. Owning nearly all the mines along the river, he is the only one that can stop the destruction before it reaches her town. In her desperation, Chantel finds herself hidden underneath a bandana and behind a pistol. Little does she know that by robbing the man responsible for her town’s demise she will set off a series of events that will not only prove to her that first impressions should never be trusted, but that love can oftentimes be found where we least expect it.Whiskey Creek Press

survey

How many of you read, what you write?
I mean, do you read books in the same genre that you write?
Of course, I do. But I have read a lot of interesting articles out there in cyber-land where some authors say they never read. So, I'm curious. Do you read what you write, or do you even read?
And, what are your thoughts about those who write, and don't read?

Have a nice night,

Mapping Your World

Hi, and good morning.

As I sat down to start my new manuscript I tried to come up with some ideas on how to create my world. Since the story is Urban Fantasy, I needed to get a grip on what my characters are seeing. So,
I decided to Map their world.
To do this, I read an article from Fiction Factor that was very helpful. Here's the link.

Have a great day!

P.S.: Lets all pray for Japan and everyone hit by the devastation of the earthquake.

Check out my review of "Desperate Hearts" By Marilyn Meredith of Kings River Life Magazine

Desperate Hearts by Diane Story
Review by Marilyn Meredith
For those of you who love historical romance, Desperate Hearts is for you. Set in Oregon Territory during 1866, Chantel Aubachon is the strong, beautiful heroine desperate to help the town she serves as mayor. The town is suffering because of nearby goldmines.
Determined to be a stumbling block to the mines, she dresses like man, wears a bandana over her face, and robs a stage, stealing the gold Harper Barnes has mined. What Chantel doesn’t know is Harper was taking the money to his aunt who desperately needs the money for an orphanage she runs.
It isn’t long before Harper visits Chantel and immediately realizes that she is the one who robbed him. Chantel feels an instant attraction to the handsome man, an attraction that is mixed with dislike and disgust because of the problems the gold mining is causing to the town. As in most romances, the sexual attraction between the two is immediate but there is much to keep these two apart. With plenty of action when both Chantel and Harper are being pursued, the story moves quickly as the reader sees both the hero’s and heroine’s lives being threatened as Chantel tries to find the missing gold and find out the answers to many questions including some about Harper.
Diane Story has written a quick moving and sensual romance with plenty of thrills and adventure to keep the reader turning pages.
Highly recommended for readers of romance.
